If you need to return a product, we do everything we can to make the process as simple and hassle-free as possible. Just follow these easy steps:

    Make sure the product is eligible for return. Items must be unused and in their original condition. Please note that some items, such as used electronics or fuel system components, may not be eligible for return.
  2. Start the return request

  3. Prepare the product for return
    Pack the product securely in the original packaging, if possible. If the original packaging is no longer available, make sure the product is well protected to prevent damage during transport.
  4. Return the product
    You will be responsible for the return shipping costs. We recommend using a reliable courier service to ensure your product arrives safely. Please retain the tracking number for your reference.
  5. Receive your refund
    Once the return has been processed and the product has been inspected, we will process the refund. Refunds are processed using the same payment method you used for the original purchase.

Can I install and adjust a KMS system myself?

KMS products are designed to be easy to use, with comprehensive manuals and wiring instructions to assist with installation and tuning. Although the system is designed for ease of use, successful installation and tuning of an engine management system requires a thorough understanding of engine dynamics, electrical systems, and your specific engine configuration.

Installation involves not only wiring and connecting components, but also understanding the nuances of engine performance and calibration. Improper installation or adjustment can result in poor engine performance, reduced reliability, or even catastrophic engine damage. KMS cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from improper use, installation, or configuration of our products.

If you are not confident in your ability to properly install or adjust your system, we strongly recommend that you contact one of our authorized dealers or our support team for assistance. KMS Troubleshooting Guide

Check serial number, software or firmware version

Software version:

  • Open the KMS software → Version number is shown at the bottom left of the startup screen.

Firmware version & serial number:

  • Open the KMS software → Go to 'Options (F4)' → Version information and serial number will be displayed at the top.

No communication with the KMS ECU

  • Check that the communication cable is undamaged and correctly connected.
  • Make sure the ECU has power (grounded and receiving more than 11V).
  • Check that the communications port (COM port) is set correctly in the software.
  • Check the compatibility mode of the PC software and install the latest drivers.
  • If there is still no communication, the ECU may be locked with a password. Check this before contacting support.

ECU password set

  • Please contact the previous tuner to unlock the password.
  • If the password is lost or forgotten, please send an email to KMS with purchase information and serial number.

Engine won't start

Check ECU power supply:

  • Must be grounded and receive more than 11V even during cranking.
  • Check if there is communication with the ECU.

No ignition/spark:

  • Check the spark by cranking the engine with the spark plugs removed or use the 'Output Test' in the KMS software.
  • Check that the wiring is undamaged and that the ignition outputs are connected correctly.
  • Spark plugs must be in good condition (correct color, heat range and electrode gap).
  • Check the resistance of the spark plug wires and replace them if they are cracked or stiff.
  • Check if the ECU receives a speed signal (RPM).

No injection:

  • Test by starting the engine or use the 'Output Test' in the KMS software.
  • Check the wiring and make sure there are no short circuits.
  • ECU and injectors must be supplied with power (above 11V).
  • Only high impedance injectors (>12 ohms) can be used.
  • Check the fuel pressure to make sure the injectors can inject under high pressure.

No speed signal (RPM):

  • Open the KMS software → RPM should be between 75 and 300 during startup.
  • Check the trigger signal in the 'Crank Sensor Test'.
  • Make sure the correct trigger wheel settings are in the software.
  • Check that the correct type of crankshaft sensor (Hall or Inductive) is selected and connected correctly.
  • Determining what type of sensor you have:
  • Inductive sensor: Resistance between 0.5kΩ and 2kΩ between two pins.
  • Hall effect sensor: No measurable resistance.
  • When using a Hall sensor: check that it has the correct power supply (5V, 8V or 12V) and grounding.
  • For an inductive sensor: make sure the signal and ground are rotated and preferably shielded.
  • Sensor should be 0.5-0.7mm away from trigger wheel.
  • If no RPM signal: use an oscilloscope or swap the sensor's signal and ground wires.

Checking ignition timing and firing order

  • Check that the ignition outputs are connected correctly according to the firing order of the engine.

Set reference point:

  • Angle between the crankshaft sensor and the first tooth after the missing tooth at TDC of cylinder 1.
  • Should be set between 70 and 120 degrees.

Check timing:

  • Remove the spark plugs and place them on the engine block.
  • Mark the TDC point on the crankshaft pulley or flywheel.
  • Use a timing light while starting to check the timing.
  • If the ignition advance in the software differs from the timing lamp measurement, adjust the reference point in the software.

Note: In a wasted spark system the timing lamp will often show a value that is double the normal ignition advance.
